What is Globalization? Globalization is growth to a global or worldwide scale. It is a series of several processes; One of which being a process of economic interactions and integrations between companies and governments of different nations. Countries engage in international trade aided by technology and other sources of information, Such as the internet and other means of communication. Economic interactions are interactions that have effects on the environment, culture, political systems, economic development and prosperity, and on human rights in countries around the world. What does Globalization mean to the United States? Pros/cons? In many cases globalization for the United States can mean outsourcing jobs, because of how work is outsourced to developing nations like China where wages and the cost of manufacturing goods are lower. This outsourcing of jobs can lead to increased job competition that in turn can lead to a reduction in wages and consequently lower standards of living. On the other hand, Globalization also allows American consumers to gain from a wider range of products and lower prices that is associated with open trade. Issues/Concerns with Globalization why do some countries benefit more than others? There are many issues with globalization. One issue begins with how capitalistic the global economy is. Globalization provides the largest possible base of competitors which helps provide a larger range of products, and lower prices.
