The Logistics Of Mcdonald s Supply Chain - 983 Words

The amount of customers demand has influence on the amount of supply required from suppliers. Increase in demand results in increase of supplies to meet the required inventory. In addition, a decrease in demand will also require the inventory to be reduced. Hence, demand has a one way direction effect on the supply chain. The logistics of McDonald’s is divided into three phases just like in most other companies. Inbound logistics phase involves the activities that take place between the delivery of supplies and their storage. The next phase is where the operation processes take place. Usually, it involves activities that create the end product, ensuring that its quality meets the customer’s expectations. Capacity Planning For both Hard Rock Cafà © and McDonald’s, the major bottleneck is the time taken in the operation process. This bottleneck can be eliminated by reducing the time customers take in queuing and in order delivery. Both companies have similar operations hence similar bottlenecks. In this case, the identified bottleneck is the problem associated with the delivery of goods by suppliers. According to the theory of constraints, the first step is identifying the constraint. Sophocles’s Antigone depicts the struggle between two different characters with their own struggles, doubts, and beliefs. The play opens with the eponymous character lamenting a terrible situation to her sister Ismene. Their brothers Eteocles and Polyneices fought over the throne and killed each other in battle. Creon, their uncle, has forbade anyone to bury Polyneices, since he is considered a traitor to the city of Thebes. As the king, Creon holds the authority of the state above family ties, refusing to â€Å"count the enemy of the land / friend to [himself]† (187-188). Antigone believes the opposite; her loyalty to her family is more important than her loyalty to her king. She asserts that she â€Å"never shall be found to be [her brother’s]†¦show more content†¦He states that â€Å"I am no man and she the man instead / if she can have this conquest without pain† (484-485). In addition to threatening his authority, Antigone threatens Creon’s masculinity. He constantly references the fact that Antigone is a woman as a negative attribute, and implies that part of his humiliation comes from the fact that a woman is defying him. When he condemns her to death, he proclaims, â€Å"No woman rules me while I live† (525). Ismene tries to share the blame with her sister, but Antigone rejects her efforts and resolves to die alone. Ismene shows love and concern for her sister, asking, â€Å"When you are gone what life can I desire?† (548), but Antigone brushes her off, telling her to save herself but that â€Å"I shall not envy you† (553). Antigone and Ismene never share any true solidarity or support for each other; this may be one of the reasons why Antigone feels so alone. Ismene is inconsistent with her support, first rejecting Antigone’s idea and then trying to share in the blame. As soon as Ismene disagrees, Antigone all but disowns her and rejects help and support from her sister. In her stubbornness, Antigone destroys her relationship with one of the only people who is loyal to her. Optimism and the challenging economic times have shifted the nature of workplace where people can be able to bundle several tasks and conduct from the comfort of their homes. Furthermore, the social behavior has changed where people no longer stick to their organizational social friends but rather try to expand their circles to achieve individual benefits. Additionally, individuals in the present times have forgotten the loyal culture practiced earlier. In the present state, people opt to move from one career to another based on the benefits rather than the pride of working in a specific career (Leinberger and Tucker 1991). Money has become the sole reason for working thus transforming the past behavior to the present state. The organization behavior has shifted from the collectivism to the individualism state where people would prefer to follow their personal goals as opposed to those that appease to the general public. The shift records a new means to solve organization problems through the use of technology which has opened up the job market thus moving away from the previous corporate culture. Therefore, the views expressed in his book apply to the present times where some expressed fail to materialize. The ideas regarding individualism seem to have taken shape as evidenced by the individual creativity needed for advancement. The collectivist mentality among the executives is slowly fading away giving way to the present invention of new things. Risk-taking becomes normality according to the views of Whyte where people liberate themselves from the corporate world. The book has an enormous impact on the present culture in management among the Americans. The current occurrences and inventions in the technology work register the new changes which remain viable evidence to the influence of Whyte. Essay on a production of Brechts The play Mother courage is written by Bertolt Brecht in 1930, it was written in German. He was a German poet, play writer and theatre director. He had created nine play, they are mostly at the darker side. They were mainly focused on family, wars and realistic. He wants the audience to think. He had created the play Mother Courage to express himself during World War II; his life was pretty much about war all the time and he was always in the middle of the wars. He probably has no one single good thought about wars, so he always writes about the darker side. Mother Courage was one of the plays that were written in an attempt to counter the raise of Fascisms and Nazism. The musicians were placed in view of the audience so that they could be seen. The audience was focused on issue being displayed rather then the characters and emotions. He made some weird things in between scenes to make audience remember that they are watching a play. He made characters talking to the audience, change costumes and unique acting. He was trying to show how bad war is, and why he believe what he believes. My first impression to Mother courage was it is dark, sad and depressing. The actors broke the fourth wall to communicate with the audience, to let them be in the play, to feel it, to remember it. Music had been used in the play, it was some kind of sad music, it was played during the three childs death. The other music had been played was some marching songs, to show the power and strength of armies. Placard and projections were used at the beginning, middle and ending. I think the part where the armies dance while march was the most interesting part, it entertains the audience which creates a feeling of you know how strong they are and feel the power theyve got. I really like the background designing, for example the sliding board and Mother Courages cart. There are sliding board, stairs and another floor on the stage. The sliding board is made out of wood so it was wooden color and it covered three fourths of the centre stage, the actors will sit on it, lean on it or stand on it to create use of spaces and levels. The stairs were in black and i think they are made out of metal and it covered the stage right and left. The other floor was located on the upper stage. There are two stage added on the sides along with the two big screens. The period of time for the settings is about at the 1920s. I clearly remember this scene because I really like it, it was during the war. The actors were running around the sliding board, up the stairs and down the stage, acting really scared, afraid and lost. It really matched the scene and it created tensions to make us really want to watch it. The costumes and make up were superb. They match the theme, their character and their personality. The make up was not over done and the costume fits the way they look. I think the soldiers will be a good example. Theyve got black, dark green and green clothing, eyeliners to make them look angrier, and a gun for prop that shoes that they are the soldiers. I like how are they dressed differently. I would like to talk about the prostitutes. They were prostitutes that wanted Mother Courage to sell her cart. They were always trying to catch audiences attention using a different voice to express her, facial expressions to show audience how she feel and some movement to entertain us, interest us. Thats the way they show the attitude. I totally believe the performance, it was touching and they really show what was reality in the past. That represented how depressing and painful the play is, I think it was really effective and it was catchy. We can feel the unpleasant and distressing inside them. The story, emotions and the dance are my favorites in this production. This play made me thought about reality in the past, Are the stories my grandparents told me believable? and it told me that nothing is impossible. It did work really well as a piece of theater and I would love to recommend it to my friends.
